TerribleCat Music ("we," "our," or "us") is an independent music streaming app and label built by musicians, for musicians. We're committed to protecting your privacy, valuing your time, and not abusing your data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the TerribleCat Music app or website.

1. What We Collect

a. Account Information

Name
Username and password (encrypted)
Optional: Profile picture or artist bio (if you're a musician)

b. Usage Data (Only with Your Consent)

If you enable analytics sharing in Settings, we may collect:

Music you play, skip, or complete listening to
Albums you play and listening duration
Content you download for offline listening
Share activity (when you share songs or albums with others)
App usage patterns (page views, feature usage)
Search queries and results
Session start/end times and total listening time
Subscription and payment events
Basic device information (device type, OS, app version)
Performance metrics and error reports for app improvement

All analytics data is sent to AWS CloudWatch with your consent only. You can disable analytics at any time in Settings.

c. Payment Info

If you subscribe to a paid tier or purchase music, we do not store your full payment details. Transactions are handled securely by third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay).

d. Optional Artist Submissions

Musicians who submit music for inclusion may provide:

Album files, track metadata, photos, bios
Payment details for compensation (e.g., phone number for Zelle or Venmo)

2. What We Don't Collect

We do not sell your data to advertisers
We do not use invasive tracking for targeted ads
We do not collect biometric data, contact lists, or precise geolocation
Analytics collection is completely optional and controlled by your Settings
You can turn off all analytics sharing at any time

3. How We Use Your Data

To stream music and personalize your experience
To manage subscriptions and payments
To improve app functionality and fix bugs
To pay artists based on real listener engagement
To send occasional updates, announcements, or opt-in newsletters

4. Sharing and Downloads

a. Music Sharing

When you share music from our app:

We generate secure links that allow others to access specific songs or albums
These links contain content identifiers but no personal information about you
We may track anonymous statistics about shared content to compensate artists fairly

b. Offline Downloads

When you download music for offline listening:

Content is stored locally on your device in standard iOS cache directories
Downloaded content may be automatically removed by iOS if storage space is needed
We track download counts to ensure artists are compensated for offline listening

5. Third-Party Services

We may use trusted third-party services to help run the app, such as:

AWS CloudWatch (for analytics data, only if you consent)
AWS S3 (for music streaming and app data storage)
AWS Cognito (for secure user authentication)
Stripe (for payment processing)
Apple services (for app distribution and payments)

We choose partners that align with our values. We do not allow third parties to use data collected on our behalf for their own purposes.

6. Data Retention

We only keep your data as long as necessary to:

Provide our service
Comply with legal obligations
Support your account or artist profile

You can request deletion of your data through the in-app support section.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the data we hold about you
Request corrections
Delete your account and associated data
Opt out of communications at any time

All of this can be done directly through the app.

8. Kids Under 13

TerribleCat Music is not intended for users under 13. If we discover that we've collected data from a child without verified parental consent, we'll delete it immediately.

If you're in the EEA/UK, you must be at least 16 (or have verifiable parental consent if local law sets a different age).

9. Security

10. Advertising and Promotions

We do not sell your data to advertisers. If we ever introduce advertising, it will be contextual only and not based on personal tracking.

We do not sell or share your personal information. If this ever changes, you will have clear controls in Settings to opt out.

All content, design, code, trademarks, and branding of the TerribleCat app and website are the exclusive property of TerribleCat. You may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or attempt to exploit the app or its contents without our prior written permission.
